THIS MAKES IT ALL WORTHWHILE:
(Recent letter we received)

Brooke,

I saw you perform last week in Heber, Utah.  It was amazing how many really top notch performers were gathered in that one place at one time!  All of them were just great.

But only one am I writing to, and that one is you.

The goal of any artist, whether it be a painter, sculptor or poet is to communicate emotions and feeling through their art.  Brooke, I saw many good artists perform, but I don't think any touched me as much as you did.  Your sister's poem is as real as it gets.

Many of the poems have to do with how we all procrastinate and don't do all that we should or even all that we want to do.  When I heard, "Let that Pony Run", I knew it was time for some changes in my lifestyle.

Good job, Brooke!

Jim in Utah

Howdy!

Sorry again for few and far between updates...seems life takes over and things get forgotten. We just returned from a great trip to
the Cowboy Poetry Gathering at Heber City, Utah. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and had  huge response for the latest
CD and songs from the ride. A great big "Thank you" to everyone that made the trip so much fun. Thanks to Tom Whitaker for a bunk to sleep in
for a few days, to Glen Nelson, Karen and Aunt Joyce for the company and great conversation on the long trip.

To Yvonne Hollenbeck, well what
can we say but it was a true pleasure to meet and get to know you...a true inspiration and a lifelong friend was found.

I am keeping busy performin' and travelin' and hopefully we can see ya'll down the road abit!

YEE HAW, Brooke

JYL HAS SURGERY!!

Jyl traveled to St. Louis last week and had tendon transfer surgery on her right arm. The surgery was performed on November 20th and Jyl and Donnie returned home on Saturday the 22nd. Brooke and Jyl's sister, Dawn, traveled to St. Louis to be with Jyl and Donnie during the surgery. All went well and Jyl is back home recovering. Designed to increase the grip in Jyl's right hand, this surgery has been very successful in the past. We ask for your thoughts and prayers for Jyl as she begins recovery, and soon rehab, on her right arm. Drop her a card or call to let her know we are thinking of her.

A big "Thank You" to all the folks at Crescent Iowa who made my visit such a nice time. We truly had a great show and I really appreciate everyone's hard work to get it together.

A big "GET WELL" to Richard Wagaman, the planner/promoter, of the ride to Nashville, who had bypass surgery last week. I had the chance to stop and see him Saturday after the Crescent show and he is getting stronger everyday. He is home now and our thoughts and prayers are with him and Marsha. Take it easy Richard and follow the Doc's orders.

I am looking forward to performing on the 28th in Braddyville and look forward to seeing you all there.

Got back from Cedar City , Utah and the Western Arts Festival. Had a great time and wanted to thank everyone there at Cedar City for all their kindness. A special big "Thanks"  to the girls who donated their time and energies to selling the CD and also donated their cut from the sales. Also a special Thanks to the "mysterious stranger" who generously gave us gas money for the return trip home.  We didn't get his name, but we appreciate the help. The whole trip was a great experience and we truly enjoyed ourselves.

I first want to apologize for not keepin up to snuff on the website. When I got home from the ride, I had several fences to mend, and had to try to return to being the father and husband I was before I left.

I guess probably the greatest deal from the entire ride was the fact we we met up with Dr. John McDonald and the rest of his outfit at Washington University in St. Louis. We had no intent of goin through the town at all. It was the Good Lord's will! Thanks Big Guy!!!

Jyl went down January 13th for a 5 day stay; as of today she's still there. In a rehab situation, that's a good thing. She's gettin alot stronger mentally and physically, she's still along way from walkin, but I'm still bettin on it.

To date we have sent $19,000 to Washington University and we've got another 1,000+ to go pronto. We still have alot of interest and alot of donations still coming in. WE APPRECIATE IT!!

Thanks to all the folks who helped us out on the ride. It was so cool to meet so many nice people on the ride and the folks back home. We are workin' on the second CD, which is chalkful of songs that were written on the ride or been inspired by the ride. THANKS TO ALL!!

Brooke
