Why Did We Do This?

Of course this is a worthy cause, but specifically I became involved when my sister was injured and paralyzed from the waist down in a 3-foot fall from a forklift.  Her determination is inspiring, and with new developments in spinal cord research, we hope she'll regain more and more of her strength and physical abilities. Please visit the link to Jyl's thoughts and updates from the main page at Krazykowboy.com.

This is a poem that I wrote for my sister, Jyl Waters.

I was up to the hospital the other day to visit my sis,
and I guess that I'd had about all I could stand.

So my wife and I rode out to the folks place,
you see my dad he was workin' the land.

Well, I planted those rows straight and true
and it will grow, I know ain't no doubt.

Cause as I'd drive, I'd cry so I know there's
enough moisture those seeds will sprout.

Seems like she's about always
had the toughest row to hoe in life.

She'd stumble and fall when everyone
else would just pick up their feet
and keep walkin' right on by.

But she'd pick herself up and brush herself off
for what she lacked in luck and good fortune.

She made up for it in try.
Looks like this time she's drawed the rankest bronc
I guess anyone would have to ride.

But with the help of the good lord and
her family and good friends.

I believe she'll get better as the days go by.
Though her body may be boogered,
her soft heart is still in the right place.

When the rest of us were bawling like babies,
she could still put a smile on our face.

For you see, she is chalk full on heart and soul.
And that darned old stubborn Turner pride, and besides
Far as that goes, I guess everybody knows.

You don't need full use of your legs to be an Angel
All you have to do is fly.
